Orma drager maksimal fordel af sit drømmeterroir mellem giganterne Sassicaia og Ornellaia i den nye topårgang 2021, der spås til at blive en af de helt store for Toscanas kystnære prestigeregion.

Og ja, du læste rigtigt. Orma-marken ligger direkte i smørhullet mellem Bolgheris to største ikoner, Sassicaia og Ornellaia. De to giganter sloges om at få fingre i de eksklusive 5,5 hektar, men det blev Antonio Moretti fra Tenuta Sette Ponti, der skaffede sig skødet på jorden.

Selvom prisen heldigvis er en helt anden, har Orma ifølge James Suckling allerede indhentet Sassicaia og Ornellaia målt på velsmag og kvalitet.  

Antonio ved udmærket, at kvaliteten matcher de to giganter, men han vil ikke være med til at puste priserne kunstigt op.

Orma 2021 drager fra glasset med sin blommerøde farve, der har violette antydninger langs kanten. En bragende flot Bolgheri-bouquet stiger op med en kølig charmeduft af friskplukkede violer, saftige solbær, kirsebærlikør og blå blommer, der leder videre til urtede strejf af mynte og timian samt luksuriøst cedertræ og ristede kaffebønner fra den lange fadlagring... På tungen svævende smooth og toplækker med frugtpower, fadkrydderi og årgangens kølige mineralitet i flot balance. Juicy and lifted straight away, this has a sense of joy about it, lively and buzzing with bright acidity. Depth and structure come from the slightly tight but well defined tannins that also give a touch of spice to the expression. I love the bright red fruit aspect on the palate and the juiciness is so captivating. Ends salty with a liquorice bite and touch of spiced heat. This has potential and makes me want another glass. Excitable and characterful. From 7.5ha with 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. Ageing 18 months in small barrels and one year in bottle prior to release.

The nose is deep and spicy, with a chocolaty richness, a lot of Merlot presence and aromas of bay leaf, rosemary and incense, as well as banana peel. Very youthful, reductive and full-bodied, very dense in the mouth, with seemingly blunt tannins, firmly fleshed out. The all-encompassing sweetness masks the subtle brittleness in its youth. Wiry acidity, a lot of tannin presence, plenty of wood and very little melting.”

You are best off serving a wine of this depth and magnitude with a classic T-bone cut bistecca alla fiorentina.”

“As usual, the Orma with 15% vol. brings a good deal of weight with it, resulting in a massive, dark colour Rich in smell and less liqueur than usual, the Orma 2020 has more freshness and the fruit aromas are clearer, underlined with fresh herbs, pithy and berry-cherry orientated Tannins then still a little raw, with a glassy-steel structure. With a lot of core and body on the palate, the Orma still seems a little hollow in the middle and in need of development."

Vinen er fremstillet på et nøje afstemt bordeauxblend af 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon og 20% Cabernet Franc, som håndhøstes fra Tenuta Sette Pontis 5,5 hektar i Bolgheri, lige i ”smørhullet” mellem Ornellaia og Sassicaia.  Vinen gærer først frugtbevarende på ståltank med 18 dages udtræk af smag og tannin fra drueskallerne. Efter endt gæring modner Orma 18 måneder på 225 liters franske barriquefade samt ca. 1 år på flaske før frigivelse til salg.

Om Tenuta Sette Ponti

Tenuta Sette Pontis marker skråner ned mod floden Arno og dens 7 broer, der har inspireret til vingårdens navn. Vi er i det østlige Chianti, i bakkerne umiddelbart nordvest for Arezzo. Her har man dyrket druer og lavet vin i århundreder, men først med internationale armbevægelser fra 1996. Det var nemlig året, hvor den dynamiske modemagnat Antonio Moretti Cusero overtog Tenuta Sette Ponti fra sin far. I 1998 lancerede Antonio den Sangiovese-baserede ”Tignanello-dræber” Crognolo, og året efter kultvinen Oreno. Sidstnævnte er en intens, fadlagret ”supertoscaner” på bordeauxsorterne Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon og Petit Verdot. Markarbejdet superviseres af berømte Daniel Schuster (ex-konsulent for bl.a. Ornellaia), mens Giuseppe ”Beppe” Caviola (”The Flying Winemaker”) yder nok så prominent konsulenthjælp i vineriet. I 2005 lancerede Antonio så sit Bolgheri-flagskib Orma. En silkeblød elegantier af en supertoscaner, lavet på Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon og Cabernet Franc fra 5,5 hektar i ”smørhullet” mellem Ornellaia og Sassicaia!
