94-96/100 The Wine Independent
“The 2022 Marquis d'Alesme is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, aging in 50% new oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is a little closed to begin, requiring some coaxing to bring out fragrant scents of warm cassis, kirsch, and violets, leading to an undercurrent of fertile loam and cinnamon stick. The fruit on the medium-bodied palate is very bright and shiny, delivering compelling freshness along with fine-grained tannins, leading to a long and perfumed finish on this beautiful wine. “

”Deep in color, with just a bit of swirling you find flowers, mint-leaves, black currants, plums, and cherry aromatics. On the palate, the wine is silky, creamy, and fresh. The fruits are sweet, energetic, and long. There is purity in the berries, length and elegance. The fruit produces an impact on the palate that lingers, building in intensity in the finish. The end notes get even better as you find a touch of peppery spice, mint, and chocolate-covered plums. The wine blends 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. 3.65 pH. The harvest took place September 15 - October 4. Yields were only 22 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2026-2055.”

“Really quite expressive on the nose, rich blackcurrants, bramble fruits, perfumed violets and irises. Lovely supple texture, smooth and grippy, holds interest from the first sip, concentrated and intense, this has a great fully fruit forward aspect with ripe tannins that fill the mouth, chewy, lively, bright and fun. So fresh and friendly, I love this expression, more structured and serious - you can feel the depth and weight and sophistication, the Cabernet shines and I love the soft, salty dark chocolate and flint touches too. Sweet, sharp, great acidity, layered and forward. Long and still a bit lean which gives focus on the finish. Will be delicious and great to enjoy when ready. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 3.83pH.”

“Glass-staining purple gives vibrancy and sets the tone for the stunning depths and character of the wine. This has so much texture, with rippling powerful cassis and blueberry fruit, slate and pummice stone, grips on through the palate, and like the best 2022s manages to be extremely ripe without being overly sweet, with a build up of tannins that gives structure without being drying. As it opens you get pulses of pummice stone minerality, and floral aromatics. Harvest September 15 to October 4. 60% new oak. Marjolaine de Coninck CEO and technical director. The blend given is planted, not as per final wine, allowing slight evolution over ageing, so these are ones to check back in on when in bottle.”

“A lovely intense shocking pink rim. Limpid. Gloriously floral. Lilac and rose petal and violet – but all hyper concentrated. It’s like being in the parfumier’s boudoir. Graphite too. Dark scented and intense – with blueberry, bramble, mulberry and those lovely green and Szechuan peppercorn notes from the Cabernet and Petit Verdot. Cassis and the additional freshness of blackcurrant leaf– more so than Tour de Mons and Labégorce (tasted alongside). Lithe, very softly textured and so expressive of its Margaux terroir. Sinuous. Impressively concentrated though the fruit is stretched over quite a broad frame. Lush. Glossy. Seductive. Not any obvious trace of wood. 93-95.”
94/100 Vert de Vin Magazine
“The nose is fruity with some power and depth. It's intense with a hint of infusion and notes of luscious blackberries, blueberries, lilies and slight notes of small blue fruits associated with touches of fleshy strawberries as well as hints of nutmeg and a subtle note of pepper. cubeb. The mouth is fresh with the minerality of the accuracy. It has a pretty racy freshness on the bass with notes of luscious and juicy blackberries, creamy blackcurrant and slight roasted red berries associated with touches of blueberry, lily as well as hints of racy minerality and a note toast, nutmeg and a hint of sweet blond tobacco. There is a nice sapidity, greediness with roundness in freshness and a good length.”

”Another concentrated Margaux, the 2022 Château Marquis D'Alesme boasts a deep purple hue as well as brilliant aromatics of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and wood smoke. Medium to full-bodied and nicely balanced, with plenty of mid-palate depth, it shows the ripe, sexy, opulent style of the vintage and will offer ample pleasure in its youth yet still age gracefully.”
92-93/100 Alexandre Ma
”The extraction of Château Marquis d'Alesme 2022 is quite prominent, and upon tasting, I felt as though 1kg of tannins melted on the palate. The nose is filled with sweet blackberries and blueberries, while the finish is accompanied by a large amount of spicy licorice and cinnamon. Although from the perspective of a Margaux classified growth, I feel it lacks a hint of graceful temperament, when viewed from the characteristics of a Médoc wine, this wine still exhibits an ideal sense of layers. I am largely looking forward to its performance after bottling.”
