”100 points. Wine of the Decade” – James Suckling
Anmeldelser af Almaviva 2017
100/100 James Suckling
”The aromas of blackberry leaves and iodine are wild and exotic here with mussel shells and earth underneath. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with powerful tannins that show muscle. It’s structured and powerful. Dense and very, very deep. Don’t touch this until 2025."

"The 2017 Almaviva is a show-stopping effort from this storied Chilean Estate. This is a compelling blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Carménère with the remainder Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. As this begins to unwind in the glass it releases capivatiing nuances of crème de cassis and blackberry pie which are joined by red bell pepper, green olive tapenade and Turkish coffee that all come together to provice the stunning aromaticas. On the palate this full-bodied red is possesses a gorgoeus silky, seamless quality that is backed by a multi-layered texture that leaves behind flavors of ripe dark fruits, mocha, creosote and black olive that all leave a lasting impression. Elegant, yet rich and sophisticated, the 2017 Almaviva is gorgeous now and should also have a sensational future ahead of it."

Made from a blend of classic Bordeaux grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, which predominates, Carménère and Cabernet Franc, to which Merlot and Petit Verdot were subsequently added – Almaviva is the best of both worlds. Chile offers its soil, climate and vines, while France contributes its winemaking know-how and traditions. The result is a wine of exceptional power, complexity and ageing potential. Its launch marked a major milestone in the development of Chilean wines, both in Chile and on the international market.
