”95 points. Great balance. Long, delicious finish.” – James Suckling

95/100 James Suckling
“A perfumed nose of blackberries, blackcurrants, chocolate, undergrowth, sandalwood, sage and spice box. Pure fruit. Medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained, well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Plush texture with great balance. Long, delicious finish.”
95/100 Decanter
“Ripe and sweet fruit aromas - smells rich and full of fruit. Great texture here and general drive of sweet dense fruit from start to finish. I love the precision and the boldness of this, it's powerful no doubt, rich and ripe but presented in quite a linear, well defined way right now. Confident and quite showy, great fruit profile - cherries and blackcurrants with velvety tannins that provide soft grip and good support. Bold but charming in a look at me kind of way. A very enjoyable glass of wine - hold on to.”
94/100 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
“Quite floral in nature with nuances of licorice, espresso, chocolate, black cherries and plum. The wine is rich, lush, polished and fresh, with a sensuous, velvety texture that carries through to the end note.”
94/100 Neal Martin, Vinous
“The 2019 Villemaurine, which was the final vintage under Justin Onclin, has a well-defined, focused bouquet of red berry fruit, touches of sous bois and that marine scent that I noticed from the barrel sample. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. There is a veneer of new oak that needs to be subsumed, but this has a lovely plushness and sensuality toward the finish. Needs time, but it will be worth the wait.”

94/100 Alexandre Ma
93/100 Jeb Dunnuck
“Offering up notes of spicy oak, chocolate, leafy herbs, and Hermitage-like burning ember nuances, the 2019 Château Villemaurine is medium to full-bodied, has terrific red, blue, and black fruits, building tannins, and a great finish. I like its overall balance, it has solid complexity even at this young age, and it’s unquestionably an outstanding Saint-Emilion. As with most 2019s, short-term cellaring (or a healthy decant) is the name of the game, and it's going to have at least two decades of longevity.”
93/100 Falstaff
“Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate ocher rim lightening. Fine nuances of fresh plums, delicately floral, wild berries, some nougat, rather reserved bouquet. Juicy, of heart cherries, subtle fruit sweetness, ripe, well-supporting tannins, mineral-salty on the finish, lingers, very good balance, gastronomic style, drinkable when young, but will benefit from further aging in the bottle.”
92/100 Robert Parker
“Fleshy and generous, the 2019 Villemaurine wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices and creamy new oak. It's medium to full-bodied, rich and polished, with a ripe core of fruit, lively acids and fine, powdery tannins, concluding with a vanillin-inflected finish.”
92/100 Andreas Larsson, Tasted
“Pure and forward with crushed chalk, wild berries, modest oak and a digest medium bodied palate with both freshness and ripeness, supple tannin and fine length.”
