Château Haut-Chaigneau ligger lige ved skillevejen til Pomerol og St-Émilion og blot 5 minutters kørsel fra verdensberømte Chateau Petrus. Fra deres godt 13 hektar laver slottet noget af det bedste value for money i Lalande de Pomerol. Både Decanter og Bordeaux-guruen, Jane Anson, har begge set lyset i dette prægtige slot, der drives af Pascal Chatonnet.

I den forrygende årgang 2020 var betingelserne så gode, at slottet inkluderede hele 25 % Cabernet Franc i vinen, hvilket er første gang nogensinde. Det giver en vidunderlig friskhed og et delikat krydret touch til den luksuriøse bløde Merlot.  

Ved køb af 6 flasker leveres vinen i original trækasse.

"The nose is aromatic and offers gourmandize, a certain controlled richness, a nice grain as well as a small creaminess and a small power. It reveals notes of fleshy/ripe strawberry, cassis, small notes of creamy Boysen berries associated with touches of wild creamy raspberry, violet/lily, hints of bright blueberry, Madagascar pepper as well as fine hints of cardamom/spices and a discreet hint of bourbon vanilla pod. The mouth is fruity and offers juiciness, gourmandize, a small creaminess, a good definition, a small tension, a certain suavity, complexity, controlled richness, pulpy raspberry, small notes of bright cassis associated with touches of lilac, violet, as well as hints of blueberry, tea, cardamom, tonka bean, fine hints of bourbon vanilla and a discreet hint of hazelnut (in the background). Good length. The tannins are creamy. Good length."

"The 2020 Haut-Chaigneau represents a fine Lalande-de-Pomerol. Black plums commingle with leather and pencil lead scents that is well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely sappiness on the entry, impressive depth and commendable balance. That Cabernet Franc imparts an attractive pencil lead tincture on the finish that gives it a Left Bank allure. This has kicked on nicely through its élevage and deserves a higher score than I gave from barrel. "

Der er virkelig et frisk bid af den mørke frugt suppleret med lysere og mere bitterfrisk frugt af både hindbær, brombær, ribs og lyse blommer. Det er sgu ret godt og dermed 91 point. Forhandles af Supervin, hvor en flaske koster 249,95 kr., mens vinen koster 189,95 kr. ved køb af 6 flasker."

”The Pascal Chatonnet wines are really worth looking out for in this vintage - this has juicy, fine tannins with plenty of character, a basket of loganberry fruit and juicy, fine tannins. Plenty of character, austere and savoury, good stuff. Still suggest looking to La Segue as an excellent example of the work this year.”

"The 2020 Château Haut-Chaigneau is a round, supple, almost lush, Lalande-de-Pomerol with plenty of darker, plummy fruits, some chocolate and tobacco nuances, medium to full body, and round, velvety tannins. I don't think it's going to make old bones, but it's certainly going to offer ample pleasure over the coming 5-7 years or so."
