Château Palmers nabo imponerer dog endnu mere på flaske, så Suckling og flere andre anmeldere har sidenhen deres opgraderet score. Deyrem Valentin er simpelthen en magisk Margaux-value i dette superår!

Vi finder historiske  Deyrem Valentin i Margaux-kommunen Soussans, hvor den lille ejendom blev etableret allerede i 1730. Siden 1928 har slottet været drevet af familien Sorge, der i 1938 overtog en parcel med meget gamle vinstokke fra 100-point-naboen Château Palmer 3. Cru Classé.

I dag er familiens perfekt grusholdige 14 hektar er velsignet med over 40 år gamle vinstokke. Over de seneste 10-15 år har massive investeringer boostet vinmarkerne med bedre kloner og højere plantningstæthed. I kælderen har berømte Hubert de Boüard, ejeren af ​​Château Angelus i Saint-Émilion, hjulpet med at løftet Le Grand Vin op på Grand Cru Classé-niveau.

Heldigvis er priserne ikke fulgt med kvaliteten og anmeldelserne. Formentlig fordi vingården er lille og ikke officielt klassificeret. Set med forbrugerøjne er dette meget heldigt, da den fremragende vin nu er et af Margaux-appellationens sjældne superkup.
