"When I discovered Château Larrivet Haut-Brion 2022 after tasting a variety of Pessac-Léognan wines, it felt much like unearthing a precious gem hidden within a forest. The whole-bunch fermentation process bestowed captivating notes of black tea, longan, sour dates, and dried roses. Each breath sends me to a whimsical scene of joyous children at play. The wine offers a velvety and sweet entry, followed by a refined, intricate mid-palate. Its gentle, silky tannins tenderly embraced my cheeks, bathing me in a wave of happiness."

"Smoked, cherries, strawberry, smoked meats, spearmint, and cigar smoke create the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, soft, silky and refined. The finish is loaded with sweet, red pit fruits, with chocolate-mint coming in at the end of the refined finish. The wine is made from 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc and 18% Merlot. 14% ABV, 3.71 pH. Yields were 40 hectoliters. 38% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. Picking took place September 6 - September 28. It is interesting to note that Larrivet was the first known wine of the 2022 futures campaign to be offered, and it was priced at a discount to 2021! Drink from 2026-2045."

"I loved the 2022 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, and I wouldn't be surprised to see this check in near the 2020, although it's in a riper, more sexy style. Cassis, plums, chocolate, and earthy notes all emerge from this full-bodied Graves that has an expansive, layered mouthfeel, ripe, velvety tannins, and solid mid-palate density. It's going to benefit from just a few years of bottle age. The blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Merlot, resting in 50% new oak, with a small amount in amphora."

"Nicely aromatic on the nose, fresh black fruits and perfumed elements. Really juicy and supple with bite to the blue fruits and a grape skin texture that is nicely filling and not harsh or austere. Acidity is there but cool and fresh so you get a liveliness but it's controlled and not sharp. A complete wine with lots going on. Beautiful depth and persistence, I like the mouthfilling nature with energy and focus. Clean and precise, characterful and supremely enjoyable. Harvest 19 September - 10 October. Ageing 14-16 months. 80% barrels, 20% large barrels. Derenoncourt consultants."

"Broad and structured, but supple and sleek, with fine-grained tannins. Medium- to full-bodied. Hints of coffee beans and cedar. Solid finish. Bright."

"The 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion offers up aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, violet, orange zest, iris and ripe plums, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's supple, seamless and elegant, its succulent core of fruit framed by velvety tannins, concluding with a floral finish. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc—the most significant portion of this grape variety ever used at this estate run by Bruno Lemoine—this is one of the most interesting wines that this estate has produced in recent years. It matured in 15% amphorae, 50% new barrels and the balance in tanks."
92-94/100 Antonio Galloni
"The 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion is bold, punchy and also quite exotic, because of the presence of Cabernet Franc. Succulent red cherry fruit, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and rose petal lend notable complexity with plenty of Franc perfume built into the layered, wonderfully expressive finish. Drinking window : 2027-2042"
92-94/100 The Wine Independent
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion Rouge gallops out of the glass with powerful notes of blackcurrant pastilles, juicy blueberries, and blackberry preserves, leading to an undercurrent of clove oil, dark chocolate, and roses. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid frame of fine-grained tannins and plenty of freshness to support the generous black fruits, finishing long and fragrant. Nicely done!"
91-93/100 Neal Martin
"The 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion was tasted on two occasions. The first sample was a bit suspect, intimating a little over-ripeness. A second showing was much better. Dark berry fruit and tertiary scents unwind on the nose and draw you in, nothing ambitious but neatly delineated. The palate sashays along with a firm but fine lattice of tannins and commendable balance. It evokes the sense of Pessac-Léognan on its finish that nicks the best from Left and Right Banks. Call me smitten."
91-93/100 Andrew Caillard
"Medium deep crimson. Pure red cherry, starwberry, redcurrant aromas with touch of dark chocolate. Attractive buoyant style with ample redcurrant, strawberry, cassis flavours, fine grainy tannins and well integrated savoury oak. Finishes firm and tight with linear freshness. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc 30% new oak)"
