"94 points. Confident powerful, nuanced, rich, balanced. A signature St Julien vintage" - Jane Anson
Cru Cos d’Estournel). Forvent store vine med stort lagringspotentiale.
Anmeldelser af Château Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien 4. Cru Classé 2014
95/100 La Revue du Vin de France
94/100 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
"This vintage always benefits in a vertical from coming after the 2013, but no question that this is a excellent wine with dark fleshy fruits and slate-textured tannins. Confident powerful, nuanced, rich, balanced. A signature St Julien vintage, with smoked cigar box from the opening notes, balanced but expands and rises from the mid palate onwards. 50% new oak."
94/100 Falstaff
"Smoky wood, some cassis, creamy on the palate, with fine, slightly clinging tannins, full-bodied and dry, but well mature, disciplined in terms of alcohol, the frame is seamlessly filled, rather subtle acidity. Almost salty notes, homogeneous and juicy flowing, with draining acid nerve. One of the rare years with a dash of Cabernet Franc in the blend (6 percent). 78 percent Cabernet Sauvignon."
93/100 Vinous
"The 2014 Saint-Pierre has the most fruit-driven bouquet of the flight of Saint Julien wines with copious red cherries, boysenberry and fig-like scents. It certainly is the one with the immediate appeal rather than intrinsic complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, quite solid tannin that provide good backbone to support the weight of fruit. There is a lot of extraction here but everything remains nicely proportioned and there is more than enough freshness towards the finish. This should not be under-estimated and it will provide long-term drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting."
93/100 Vert de Vin Magazine
"The nose is fresh, fruity and structured. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis and slight notes of red fruit associated with a discreet note of zan and a hint of mocha. The palate is fruity, mineral, gourmand, elegant, silky and offers a certain righteousness. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry, black cherry and cassis combined with a hint of mocha, licorice as well as a few discreet oaky notes and a very discreet hint of coffee. Tannins are fine and slightly firm / youth."
93/100 Jean-Marc Quarin
92-94/100 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
"This wine makes a memorable first impression. Like a seductress whose essence haunts the room long after she has made her exit, this wine offers a heady and unforgettable bouquet of blackberry, dark cherry, espresso bean, earth and cocoa. Focused and structured to age, this wine rings with volume, length, character and freshness. It will be undoubtedly delicious after only a few years of aging. Produced from a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc"
92/100 Wine Enthusiast
"Barrel Sample. Oak notes dominate this in wine, with spice, toast and vanilla tones hovering over fruit. There is a sense of over extraction that is luckily mitigated by lively acidity. It needs time to balance out."
92/100 James Suckling
"Sweet, moderately oaky nose with much chocolate and a hint of something vegetal in the background from the cab. Generous ripe fruit and some lovely warm dry tannins behind it. Already very harmonious on the rather long finish. Give it a couple of years to come together."
